  1. The night of the the big wind occurred in the year 1839 in the month of January. It blew so wild that it carried oats and hay out of the haggart many miles away. One night a boy and his mother lived in a little house. The house was blown away and he took his mother out near the fence and while he was going in for a blanket for his mother the wind had her swept away and she was never seen again.
