  1. When the wind is from the south, rain is supposed to come.
    When the wind is from the north snow is near.
    The wind from the east is not good for man or beast.
    When the sun is very red going down, it is a sign that the next day will be fine. When the sun rises early in the morning it will rain before night. When the dog goes up the river rain is supposed to come soon. When the smoke goes up straight it is a sign of good weather. When a blue blaze is in the fire it is a sign of bad weather. When here are many stars in the sky it is a sign of frost. When the cat turns his back to the fire it is a sign of cold weather.
