  1. People had three meals a day in olden times. They had, "the morning meal", "the dinner," and the evening meal. People did work in the morning before having food. The morning meal was porridge. The dinner consisted of potatoes and the evening meal consisted of potatoes also. Potatoes were eaten at two meals. Sour milk was drunk. Home made bread was eaten and mostly all brown bread. Meat was eaten very seldom. Special customs did not attach to feast days. Earthenware vessels were used before cups became common.
