  1. In olden times the people played football as well as now. They used to play parish verus parish. Mr. John Plougher from Charlestown was a famous placer player. Once the parish of Charlestown and the parish of Ballina were playing, the parish of Charlestown won and the score was three goals to nothing.
    Mr. Burke from Galway referred the match. The goal-space was twelve feet.
