  1. Long ago the bread was made from the pure oatmeal which was ground by two mill stones. This was worked by water. The millers in this neighbourhood were Mr. Richard Meloney and Mr. James Mc Gann. During their time at the mill they made and baked bread to give to the people a sample of oaten bread or to feed the hungry that were coming there. In the mill the bread was baked on a clean red hot flag, which was there for the purpose but it was baked on a griddle in the houses.
