    Not much stories are told about Cromwell in this district as it is so long ago since he was in Ireland. some people believe that he used to hang men, women, and children on a tree, and leave them there until they rotted, this was called half hanging. There are some of these yet in the country for instance, there was one in Kilronan Keadue. Some years later this tree rotted and withered away. Nothing is said of Cromwell burning the church or houses in this district except that he burned Boyle Abbey. Some people ay that Cromwell was a "shoemaker" while others say he was a
