  1. The late Pat Tighe of Roscunnish was one of the finest thatchers in the County Leitrim. I have seen a coat of thatch which is on 12 years now and it is as good as the first day that Pat Tighe thatched. He generally used Rye straw. When he would have a coat of thatch on a house he used to spray the thatch with bluestone water to prevent the grain from growing. It also puts
