  1. Tubrid,
    Ardfert
    Jan. 12th 1938.
    Dear John,
I hope you and all your friends are in the best of health. I am writing this letter to describe Saint Stephen's day to you. On St. Stephen's day the little boys go from house to house with a wren on a bush of holly gathering money to bury the wren. They sing songs and dance in each house.
When they get the money they buy sweets, apples, oranges and many other things.
I did not go with the wren. I hope, Dear John, you will be pleased with my account of St. Stephen's day.
    I remain, Dear John,
    Yours truly,
    Michael Davis.
