  1. In the year 1838 there was a terrible storm which put terror into farmers and labourers. Many farmers' cowsheds took fire from the dwelling houses Many a comfortable man was a poor man the day after. The labourers had to leave their cottages and go near sheltry fences.
    In one case at Barrow a laboring man named John Sheehan took shelter at the sheltry side of his cottage. The gable fell down on his and he died. Many other things happened long ago.
