  1. The ruins of an old Cathedral supposed to be built in the fourth century and destroyed by fire in the time of Cromwell are in Ardfert. They are surrounded by a graveyard. Priests, Bishops and laymen are buried within the ruins and in the graveyard. The graveyard has been enlarged with the past few years. A part of it has been allotted to Protestants.
The Franciscans' graves are near the church but there are no tombstones to indicate the spot. The Franciscan Church was built at about the same time as the Cathedral.
Lady Dowager is buried in the Cathedral. There are many crosses in the Graveyards. Some of them are made from stone. Others are made from wood and others are made from iron.
