    sinking. In the other side there are little pieces of strings along the net called squinces, and these squinces are stones to sink the net. The herring generally always goes to-gether in shoals.
    The best place for net fishing is at Ganive near Callerus and Béal-Cáig outside Hillah. Béal-Cáig is a very lonesum place. My Grandfather was often made lonesum at Béal-Cáig. He used to hear anchors haul and whisling near him, and could not see nothing. He used to pull up his own anchor and clear home.
    One night he saw a man lifting up his head, pull it down again. It is said that he looked p to see what way the wind was.
