- Marriages 17-10-'38Before Lent and Advent was the usual time to get married long ago.
The marriage ceremony always took place in the evening. Those asked to the wedding marched from the wedding house to the chapel two deep, a fiddler playing in from of them. Sometimes they used to march with horses, a boy and a girl on every horse.
