My Father told me the following story about where the fairs were held long ago. He said that the cattle fair was held from the pump to the Carrick Road. It is over sixty years ago since the fairs were held there, and then they held them on the green.
The horse fair was held in Convent Avenue as it is called now. There are hardly any horse fairs held now.
When the fairs started on the green there was a lot of tents on it and the people used to buy drink in them.
