  1. There was a hedge school in Errew taught by Micky Donnellan in the corner of a garden owned by a man named Reilly. There was another in Cornaugh opposite where Armstrong's shop is now taught by a man named Sweeny who carried crutches but could cross ditches as quickly as anyone.
    Afterwards he taught in John Healy's barn in Cornaugh.
    There was a hedge school on the top of Dromand hill which can be seen from this school window in Peter Philip's (Masterson's) barn taught by Larry McDonald. He taught English and Latin (Father John McNama Mt St Vincent New York who died 12 years ago was taught Latin by him).
    Larry Duffy another hedge school master taught Latin, English and Arithmetic in the same barn.
