  1. Mrs Dan Kiernan's father Francis Kiernan was one day mending a football for a crowd of boys who were kicking football in a field under the house where she was born in Errew.
Before he had the ball mended he heard football players in a field further down. He said "I'll go down and bring them up and it will save me the trouble of mending the ball". He and two or three others went down the fields but no matter how far they went the football kickers were further down until at last they gave up looking for them and came to the conclusion that it was the fairies who were kicking the football.
Mrs Dan Kiernan is sixty four years of age. Her father told that this happened a few years before he got married. That would be about seventy years ago.
