    I went over the night before the fair of Arva 28th June 1918 to Hugh Maguire's...

    The following was told to me by Frank Blessington Ballyduffy Moyne. He is a man about forty years of age - a small farmer and as far as I know truthful.
    "I went over the night before the fair of Arva 28th June 1918 to Hugh Maguires Fihiry [?] for a cart to bring a pig to the fair the next morning. I went through the bog. I am used to it and did not find any trouble getting through it. The night was bright and good and I was not in a hurry home, so I made my "céilidhe" till one oclock. The cart was on the street outside of the shed. I went out for my ass to the stable where I find him and brought him over to the cart. I wondered to see a woman sitting on one of the shafts of the cart. She got up and walked away when I went over to her but I could see her well. She had on a check
