- Long ago there were no roads or bridges. There were paths in every field. They had no bridges, but instead they had stones crossing the rivers. They had also beams of timber made to cross the river. They had no roads but paths. They had no cars and they had no need for roads. When they wanted to go to market or any place they would go on horse-back. There are roads and bridges in every part of Ireland now. Roads are very plentiful in the townland of Killuran.
