  1. There are many forts in this parish. There is one joining our place. It is on the side of a hill with a mound of earth and a circle of white thorns around it. All the forts can be seen from each other as they are situated at an equal distance from each other. It is considered very unlucky to interfere with them no matter how valuable the ground may be. Forts are supposed to be very lonely places as there were many strange tales told about them. When a person died about the
