  1. On the farm that is next to ours there is a fort. An old white-thorn tree stands on a hill with a circle of earth and stones all round it. The people considered it to be haunted. They never interfered with it. There was a little mound in front of the tree called cnoc an bean. It was supposed that there should be something very secret about that spot. A white woman was often seen at night circling around it. People often dreamt of gold being hidden in it. There were two men who often dreamt about
