  1. There are many forths all over this country. These forths were made by the Danes long ago when they came to conquer Ireland. People said that fairies went and lived in the forths after the Danes were driven out of Ireland.
    We have a forth at home. There are many fairy-stories attaching to it. Long ago a man went into it. When he came out he was very old for the fairies had given him wine to drink and he had fallen asleep. He thought he was only one night in it, but he was twenty years in it.
