- The food the people used long ago was different to the food which is used nowadays. They only food they had was potatoes, porridge and griddle-bread.
That bread was not like ours. They had no oven to bake it in. They baked it on an iron called a griddle. Potatoes and salt and milk was another food they had. Porridge was also very commonly used.
