  1. My father told me of a nailer named Bill Mc Grath who lived in Murhaun about 40 years ago. My grandfather often sent to him for boot nails. He used to give six score to the set, one score of these were made specifically for toes of boots, the outer end was made wider than the other. Each set cost 8 pence. The nailer heated the rod iron, made the thong first then placed it in a shape and beat on the head. He had his own heating apparatus, bellows and anvil and an also a cutter for the iron.
