  1. In the month of January in the year of 1839 about ten oclock in the night the wind rose in awful fury. It blew over Ireland and European Countries. It blew ships into land and knocked down houses, all over the country. It frightened every person so much that he thought that it was the end of the world and any person heard it never forgot it and could always tell the story about "the night of the big wind".
    There is scarcely any person living at the present day that could tell of that night.
