  1. There was a man who lived a few miles from here, his name James Foley. He was a great jumper. This man was sixty five years when he could jump his own height. He was six foot high. One time he was making an escape from the police with a poteen-still on his back, and he jumped the canal which was twenty feet wide. On another escape he jumped a gate which was six feet high when making an escape from a wicked animal. The neighbours used to say that he had wings on his heart when he could jump so high.
