- People usually get married during Shrove. They wear rings on their fingers. Long ago there were no rings but a piece of money was broken instead, of which the bride and the bridegroom kept half each. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are supposed to be the luckiest days of the week to get married. The wedding is held in the bride's house. Bride cakes are eaten at the wedding.
