- There were several industries carried on in this district long ago. The principle ones were spinning and weaving. The men took part in the weaving and the women in the spinning. All the clothing worn then was made by their own hands as their were no machinery or factories. There were two spinning wheels in every house, one for spinning wool and the other for spinning flax or cotton.
