- The houses in olden times were very different to what they are now. The houses they had were made of mud and timber. They were all thatched houses with a hole on one side for a window. They had a big door and a small door. The small door was left closed during the day to keep the fowl from coming in. Some of the cabins are yet to be seen in some districts.
