- The potatoes are sown in spring every year. the lands on which they are sown is first ploughed. Then it is harrowed and the drills are opened. Manure is put into the drills with an ass and cleeves (then). The manure is spread in all the drills. The potatoes are cut then. When they are cut they are called sciollans. The sciollans are put into the drills, about a foot apart. Then they are covered by a plough or spade. About a fortnight after the drills are grubbed and tossed. When the stalks are well up they are sprayed. The spray is made up(continues on next page)
