  1. When a christening is going to take place, they shake salt on the frock. This is done to cure the collic.
    'Tis not right to cut the child's nails until it is twelve months ould. The mother should bite them off. If the nails were cut, the child would turn out to be a rogue.
    When a child is just after being born the mother should never be left go to sleep immediately after birth. I often hear them talking about it; and they'd keep rubbing her and shaking her to keep her awake. They say that if the mother were left fall asleep that her mind would wander, and that she'd never get over it, that she'd be half crackt.
