    Leganomer, shamrock valley,

    Leganomer, shamrock valley,
    Once the home of happy men.
    On the hillsides waved by corn,
    Blithest milkmaid trod thy glen.
    Calmed cotentment reigned around thee,
    Peace and mirth was there galore
    But thy dwellings now are roofless
    Peace and mirth are there no more.
    II
    Leganomer, shamrock valley,
    From Lough Gowna to the sea
    Once no village was so happy
    None so fair, so dear as thee.
    In the sporing time bloomed the slow tree
    O'er each green and mossy dell,
    Roses blushed above the streamlets
    Fairies danced around thy well.
