    by the fire, and he had about a month's beard on him - a cursèd looking fellow.
    He sat down in front of the fire and he'd look up at the mate (méat) that way, and he pulling and feeling his whiskers at the same time.
    "I'll take off in the morning, please God" he says
    "Begob" says the woman, "a good job if you did; 'twould be no harm at all." (She thought 'twas the beard he was going to take off)
    In the morning when she got up the lad had the whole piece of méat swept.
    She couldn't do a bit about it. Sure she told him take it. Wasn't he a cut ould buck?
    She didn't let in any more of 'em in a hurry again
