- There was a crowd of people burned there in '98 - and another crowd burned in Scullabogue.
When the Irish were retreating from the battle of Ross they happened on a crowd of people inside in this barn and they burned them all - men women & children. They allowed that anywan that wasn't with them that time was again' 'em - when they weren't with them in the fight - and and they killed everywan they met.
For years after 'twas said that people could be heard roaring in that barn, in the night - the roars of the people could be heard quite plain. I was often coming home at night late from Ross, and I used be afraid of me life when(continues on next page)
