- They say that long ago there was a monastry in Shanoule (near Canross, in the parish of Taghmon)
When the friars came first they say that they landed in Saltmills; but they were run out of it and they came along to Shanoule. They built a monastry there at the upper end of the wood, in a field called the "Lissle Moor". This moor is ploughed nearly every year; there is a great flat stone in it and it said that some of the friars are buried there
Corn grows great there, and the grass turns white.
