Long ago people knew when they were going to die...

Long ago people knew when they were going to die, but Almighty God took that knowledge from them and this is how it happened.
Wan day there was a man and he was fencing a great big gap with ferns. Almighty God came along to him and of course this fellow didnt know Him from any other man.
"What are you doing" says Almighty God
"I'm fencing this gap" says the man
"And what are you fencing with?" says He
    "With ferns," says the man
"And sure ferns are no good to fence a gap. They wont hold any length," says Almighty God.
"They'll hould as long as I'll hould," says the man. "I'm going to die to-morrow."
After that God said that he'd take that knowledge from the people, so ever since no wans knows when he's going to go. But before that every wan knew when he was going to die, this very day and hour and all. I often heard me grandmother telling that.
