They were threshing down there wan time, and 'twas Carroll's engine of Taghmon they had.
They were just finished the dinner & wam or two fellows went out in the yard to have a look around They went over to an ould shed and a bunch of 'em were at the door looking in at something. Still as the men were coming out from the dinner they'd go over to see what the rest of 'em were looking at in the shed.
Jim Carroll came along, he's a big tall man, and he looked in over the rest of them, and there was a dead cow inside & she half aten.
"Begob," says Jim Carroll, "They must be preparing for the Mummers here"
