  1. There is a treasure supposed to be hidden in Ture. It was put there about one hundred years ago; in a river called “Rankin’s river”. Ture is a district situated in the townland od Drumskellan, Parish of Muff, County Donegal. Ture is about three miles from this school which I attend (Carnamoyle N.S.). It is said to have been put there by a man called Harry Canning. He had no friends and he did not want to give the treasure to anyone. The treasure consists of golden sovereigns. He had a foal which died, and he skinned it and sewed up the skin, then he filled it with the sovereigns. He made his servant carry the treasure to the bank of the river. Then he blindfolded the servant and made him walk up and down until he got so confused that he did not know where he was. Harry Canning then buried the
