    horse managed to get his head out of the winkers some way and it fell on the road. Tom never heard the winkers falling, he walked away and never looked back, and just when he was turning into the forge the winkers got caught on the big stone outside the door. He gave it a pull: "Come up!" He looked back and sure there was no horse in it. He was after coming along as far as the forge and never missed the horse.
