A few days before the famine came, a man named Patrick Neil Roe Mc Laughlin was moulding the potatoes with a shovel and was finishing them up.
he saw a heavy black cloud in the sky and he watched to see where the heavy plump was going to fall. It stopped at Ractan a mountain. In place of rain he saw a plough and a swingle tree and a foot tree and it on fire. He went into the house and told his father that he saw a fire in the sky, his father told him that there would be a famine. In two days there was not a potato on earth to be got except skeedens (worthless potatoes) Next year any person who set those skeedens had a good crop.
