  1. It is said that Ned Morrissey was the swiftest runner in this locality. He was a noted marathon runner and had to his credit four Irish championships. He had numerous medals for his prowess in the athletic field.
    Darby Jun Keane of Tuirineochaibh was a noted step-dancer. He held dancing schools all over the parish where he trained the youth of the parish to step-dance. There was a special fee of one shilling charged for entrance and at the end of six weeks a special benefit night was given. At this benefit a large sum of money was subscribed for the dancing master. This dancing-master was so agile in his feet that he could dance on a plate placed on the table without breaking it.
