  1. The name of my townland is Knockafreckane in the parish of Brosna.
    There are 14 farm-houses in that district including our own. Most of the houses are long low slated and are kept very tidy.
    There is only one old man in this district who can tell stories in Irish and sings songs.
    The houses of long ago were not as numerous or attractive as they are at present.
    They were patched and pieced with rubbers, rags, and sacks. But all these are gone and the houses are freshly built and plastered.
    There are woods, bogs, streams in the country-side which makes it look very nice and refreshing in the summer. Stories are also very common about
