    Shops are houses in which goods are bought by the public
    Money is the medium of exchanging in most shops especially in large towns , such commodities as eggs, butter, fowl and even feathers are bartered for shop goods/
    Labour is sometimes given in exchange for goods. Hucksters, pedlars and feather men visit my home district and sell their wares from house to house. There is one pedlar called "Houseen" who calls at regular intervals and sells his goods at reasonable prices.
    He is very popular in Kerry and he is entertained to dinner or tea in farm-houses of the district.
    Shop keeping was a very profitable enterprise until about ten years ago, but owing to world-wide depression, strikes, shop acts etc. many shops, which were doing a good trade, have either gone out of business altogether or else
