    There was a man and his wife and they lived in a a very small house...

    would have nothing at all to do with the poor people. The wife said that she would like to ask some of the poor people in, too that is the people who helped them when they needed it. "What!" says the husband "do you think that poor people would be fit company for the like of us, and we living in such a grand house. If I see wan of them coming near my door I'll give them a kick like that" and he drew out and he made a mighty kick, but what did he hit only the basket and he kicked it against the wall and all the eggs were broken. So it isn't lucky to count the chickens before they are hatched.

    There was a woman wan time and she got the lend of five bob from another woman, and she didn't give it back. Then the woman came to her and asked her when was she going to pay her. "Oh" says she "I'll pay
