  1. I play different games at different times of the year. In the spring I skip. In the summer I play rounders and cricket. In the autumn I gather blackberries and hazel nuts and in the winter in the house I play ludo, checkers, dominoes and snakes and ladders. Whenever I am skipping different rhymes are said.
    Up the long ladder and down the short rope
    Over to McGillgan and back in a boat
    Two little dicky birds sitting on the wall
    One named Peter the other named Paul
    Fly away Peter, fly away Paul
    Come back Peter and come back Paul
    Early in the morning before six o'clock
    You can hear the postman knock
    Postman, postman drop your letter
    Lady, lady pick it up
    As I was in the kitchen doing a little stitching
    In came a big man and I ran out
    The game "Glasgow ships are sailing down" is played in the following manner:- The girls stand in a line. Two captains leave the line. Each girl selects an object such as apple bags or anything whatsoever. They stand facing each other with their hands raised in the form of an arch
