  1. There is an old Mass Rock in Cloonawillan and also an old church and grave yard and a lovely altar.
    Long ago a priest was saying Mass at this rock and the Red-coats killed him and about thirty people. They are all buried around this Church.
    There was a large flag over the altar and a Cross was cut out on it. Later the flag was brought up to Conwell graveyard and used as a headstone, but next morning, it was back in its old place and nobody knows how it was brought down.
    The Church was destroyed and it was after this that the Mass Rock came into use.
