  1. As I went out walking, one evening i n June,
to view the green fields, and the meadows in bloom.
It was there for the first time my joy stood a vow,
As I walked the suburbs of sweet Cornagee Town.
I broadly approached her, and this I did say.
If you are a stranger come tell me I pray
She was adorned with flowers her neck and breast round,
And she told me she belonged to Sweet Cornagee Town.
I will got to her mother on this very day
and I'll ask for the hand of my own hearts delight!
If she doesn't give her consent she should never more frown.
On the darling fair maid from Sweet Cornagee Town.
But the poor old woman would not give in
to give her one only daughter to a rover like him,
But I'll have her in spite of all under the crown.
And I'll take her far, far from Sweet Cornagee Town.
