The wren is a cursed bird because he betrayed Our Lord.
The robin builds its nest in mossy banks, and lays four or five white eggs. The first coat of the young birds is brown. This soon changes to the grey coat and red breast of their parents.
It got its breast like this. When our Lord was dying on the cross the robin tried to take the nails off him, and the blood that fell from our Lord, dropped on the breast of the robin and ever since the robin has a red breast.
