  1. There was a man one time, and he went to visit his friends house one night. His people told him to wait and give turnips to his mare before he would go, as the journey was long and he had to go on horse-back. The man did not wait to give the turnips to the mare, and so off he went. When he left his friend's house to come home, he saw a great gathering of fairies on horse-back on the road before him, and so he was held up. One of the fairies ordered him to go with them, and so he had to go. They travelled all
