  1. I live near the village of Gallowshill. Here is a story I heard why it was called that name.
    There was a gallows erected in that hill in the olden times, and that's why it is called Gallows Hill.
    The gallows was for hanging people at the time the English got the upperhand of Ireland. They tried to hang the Irish Priests there. On one occasion an Irish soldier was trying to save a Priest from being hanged there. The English Government found out the name of the soldier, and they caught
