- Long ago there came a poet to Carrowmacshane,
He was a great poet. he was also a great player on the bag-pipes. He had power to banish rats.
One day, a man whose house was infested with rats, asked him to banish them. So the poet went and said three words, three times, in succession, and all at once, the rats gathered around him, and he brought them to the bank of the river.
