  1. The field south of Danesfort school was formerly called "Tom Ryan's Park" because an old man of that name lived where the school playground is now.
    On the north side of Danesfort school there is a field which was called "Regan's Park" because an old woman of that name lived there. This is the field just at the back of the school.
    The field below that is called "Bonehouse field" because there was a house there in which bones were often stored. This field was owned by Mr Dolphin owner of the Danesfort estate.
    Every tinker from the Co. Galway used to come there selling bones to Mr Dolphin. The bones were then burned in two large holes in front of the house. The
